Introduction

This area offers an abundance of things to do from delving into the fascinating past of historical landmarks such as Tintern Abbey Goodrich Castle and Chepstow Castle the oldest surviving post-Roman stone fortification in Britain to exploring a labyrinth of passageways in Clearwell Caves or enjoying a journey on the Forest of Dean Steam Railway. There are several vineyards in the area including Parva Farm at Tintern and the renowned Three Choirs at Newent where you can treat yourself to a tour and tasting. And for those seeking adventure there is something for all including canoeing and kayaking on the River Wye walking the Sculpture Trail in the Forest of Dean and one of the longest zip wire experiences in the country at the National Diving and Activity Centre. Set in its own idyllic grounds on the edge of the Forest of Dean. Enjoy the remarkable panoramic views across the River Severn before you arrive at the front door of this beautifully restored Georgian retreat. Step into the hallway where you will gain your first glimpse of the eclectic style that blends sympathetically into many original features. The ground floor offers generously proportioned living areas where you can gather to discuss the days exciting activities or simply relax with a good book. The original drawing room with its traditional open fire is the perfect place to indulge in a pre-dinner aperitif with views onto the gardens. A cosy snug sits just off the kitchen where you can steal way with a good book. The conservatory sits to the side of the house where you can relax with your morning coffee and papers. The dining hall/library is full of interesting reads with a large wooden table and chairs that takes centre stage that has room for sixteen plus there is an additional table that will seat eight guests available on request when booking. If you fancy some friendly competition challenge the rest of your group to a game of table tennis or table football within the games room. The kitchen will please the best of chefs well-equipped with Aga (turned on from Mid-October to April) two electric ovens and a five-ring induction hob microwave American style fridge/freezer fridge wine cooler two dishwashers washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also a king-size bedroom on the ground floor with an en-suite shower and WC. So when the day is done climb the stairs where you will find six bedrooms all finished beautifully with Farrow & Ball colours. There is a super-king-size zip-and-link (that can be made into a twin on request along with a king-size sofa bed) with en-suite bathroom with bath and WC where you can enjoy soaking. A king-size with an additional single bed with en-suite shower and WC. A further super-king-size zip-and-link (that can be made into a twin on request) with en-suite shower and WC. A super-king-size (with double sofa bed) with en-suite bathroom with bath separate shower and WC. And last but not least a further two king-size bedrooms that share the shower room with shower and WC. Outside the lawn offers an idyllic spot for a game of croquet badminton or boules. There is a herb garden near the kitchen as well as apples pears and plums growing in the orchard and both blackcurrants and raspberries in the fruit cage all of which you can help yourself to when in season. On balmy evenings recline in the hot tub and watch the sun sink below the horizon with a glass of bubbly enjoying nature at its finest. There is ample off-road parking.
