Built in 1837 and once the home of many notable people this stunning property is of historical significance on the National Heritage List for England. Located within the unspoilt Eden Valley it offers the perfect base for exploring the Lake District National Park (8 miles) Northern Pennines (14 miles) as well as Hadrian s Wall and the Borders (26 miles). The surrounding countryside is ideal for taking a stroll or cycle along quiet country lanes. Visit the lake at Ullswater (15 miles) where you can board a steamer for a relaxing cruise hire kayaks jump in for a swim try your hand at fishing or simply take in the splendid scenery. Alternatively enjoy a day s sightseeing at Hutton-in-the-Forest (3 miles) or Dalemain Mansion (11 miles) both historic houses with attractive gardens. Wine and dine in the beer garden at the local village pub (200m) or head to the market town of Penrith (7 miles) with its wonderful selection of eateries shops and local amenities. As you enter this property you will instantly feel as though you have stepped back in time! The property has been thoughtfully decorated throughout whilst maintaining the style and character that s in keeping with the history of the house. The entrance hall boasts tiled floors and feature studded doors offering you a warm embrace on arrival. From the hallway you will find a convenient utility room with the kitchen opposite. The bright and spacious kitchen is well-appointed and features an attractive island with informal seating to enjoy a morning coffee. The lounge leads off the kitchen offering a place to relax and unwind in front of the wood burner with a good book watch a film on the Smart TV or catch up on the day s events! As you walk through the hallway you will find yourself at the main entrance where the impressive cantilever staircase spirals through the centre of the property to an octagonal dome. From here you will find the formal dining room with a fabulous mahogany table and original wooden window shutters. The feature fireplace and piano add to the overall grandeur of this special room which would make a fantastic setting for a birthday or anniversary meal. A brilliant games room with wood burner pool table comfortable seating and Smart TV completes the ground floor. Heading up to the first floor you can t help but gaze up towards the amazing glass dome ceiling. There are five spacious bedrooms set across this floor as well as a Jack and Jill style bathroom a second family bathroom and an en-suite bathroom. The hall is located in beautiful extensive grounds with a pond resident ducks and peacocks. There s a heated outdoor pool which is open from May to September as well as a private hot tub which is available all year round.
